به گفته مقامات، این حادثه شب گذشته (شنبه، ۶ جوزا / خرداد) در ولسوالی "گرده‌سیری" ولایت پکتیا، یک خانه مسکونی را هدف قرار داده است.

روح الله سمون، سخنگوی والی پکتیا به بی‌بی‌سی گفت که کشته شدگان همه غیرنظامی و اعضای یک خانواده هستند.

آقای سمون گفت که عملیات شب هنگام در منطقه موسوم به "سوری خیل" صورت گرفته و در آن، یک زن و شوهر همراه با شش فرزندشان به شمول کودکان، کشته شده اند.
